Yes.you can use both..blogger.com or your own host to make money with adsense.but use blogger.com has a bad effect actually.

You don’t need to have self hosted website or blog to use adsense.

You can use free blogspot blogs from Blogger.com to use adsense codes on it.

I have a blogspot set up to work with adsense and can earn money. You can also use hubpages, and googlesites/pages to put adsense ads.
