I see on some YouTube videos there are AdWords and AdSense ads on the web site and at the beginning of videos, how much do users typically make? If a video has 1,000,000 views, how much does that video typically make on ads?

It all depends on how much "profit" YouTube earns from a certain ad
and how much they are willing to share with their "partners".
Of course, different videos and different ads will earn different money.
But more important to advertisers are the "target audiences" as well
as the video’s statistics and "demographics".
Plus, a video that gets 1,000,000 views in one week is not the same
as a vid that gets the same amount of views over 6 months or a year.
