Here’s the simple story. A year ago I bought a domain name of a product and started selling their products through amazon. Let’s say it was Sony.
So I see that sony.com is available, I buy it and put a bunch of sony products through on the site using Amazon affiliate links.
I sit a the #2 position in Google for a year with no problem.
I get an email yesterday that it looks like papers have been filed claiming I’ve used the business name in my url ‘not in good faith’.

They are asking that the domain name be given to them as a result.
My question is that since I wasn’t trying to do anything but MAKE THEM MONEY FOR A COMMISSION. How could they be entitled to the name, just for the asking?
I’ve already taken the damn site down. No problem, but shouldn’t they have to BUY the domain name from me since I paid for it and registered it?
Looking for answers from those that KNOW the law. I can guess at this myself.
Thanks in advance.

Sony owns the registered trademark rights to the name "Sony". No other party may use the name "Sony" in violation of their trademark rights, without their consent.
There are also "cybersquatting" laws that forbid someone from registering an existing businesses name as a domain for commercial purposes.

Send them a letter asking for what you think they should pay for the site and show them copies of the invoices of the supplier who you legally purchased their product from. If you directly paid them, then they look like idiots. Get a lawyer if they sent you a demand letter, and consider filing a counter-suit for defamation of character.
Come on, you know this. A business, an individual , anyone can sue you over anything. You want to argue with them get a lawyer. You can sue over a ham-sandwich. In theory judges are supposed to throw out frivolous law suits, but that rarely happens.
Yes, they can sue you. That does not mean that they’ll win, but it is up to weather you have enough money to prove your side.
I would wait until you get official papers first, someone could be trying to scam you. But what your talking about is illegal. Lets say theres a sony.com and you decide to make a sony.org and sell sony products through it. Well since your not a offical sony seller, and the fact that you used something very close to their own domain name, they can in turn sue you over lost profits and something called domain squatting.
found this page bookmarked and I truly liked it. will certainly bookmark it as well and check your other articles later.

What a great post and I will bookmark it to come back another day. Thanks for such useful information. If you would like to learn more about webhosting, visit the following website at: http://www.mosotechnology.com
Zune and iPod: Most people compare the Zune to the Touch, but after seeing how slim and surprisingly small and light it is, I consider it to be a rather unique hybrid that combines qualities of both the Touch and the Nano. It’s very colorful and lovely OLED screen is slightly smaller than the touch screen, but the player itself feels quite a bit smaller and lighter. It weighs about 2/3 as much, and is noticeably smaller in width and height, while being just a hair thicker.
Shorten your blog URL and make note of the URL it gave you to add to your youtube videos description later. This will make it so Youtube doesn’t pull any mass banning tactics on your blogspot or any videos associated with it.
Good Luck!

add 1 post with a picture you chose before, and complete season links from your tvshow site that you are copying links from. For me this was literally as easy as copying and pasting into the blog post. It is a good idea to use anchor text like “Watch Seinfeld Season 1 Episode 1″ rather than some URL you leeched off a site. Also make the title of the post something along the lines of watch streaming episodes of your show.
Good Luck!
I took a pretty lazy way out and got a program called TubeDownloader that lets you rip youtube videos by keyword and downloads up to 50 videos. This has a lot of uses and is powerful little software. Use keywords like “Seinfeld EPISODE” and some nice clips you can rip should be grabbed. Here is a link:
Copy this code to your clipboard. Log into your blogger account. Goto the layout tab. Click Add Gadget. For Gadget choose HTML/Javascript. Once in that screen copy and paste the code into the box and leave the title blank. This will not let anyone to your site now until they complete that survey.
1. This is just a very basic way to do it. Tips for improvement would be to create two blogs, and don’t hit people with the survey until the second blog. The first blog can link to maybe episode recaps on another blog with a link there, with the survey only installed on the second blog.
Final Step: Youtube
4. Buy YTCrackers Owntube program to automate all of this and make loot
Any type of promotion for the blog too can only help. Find some blackhat tactics to raise search engine positions and get your site showing up for keywords people looking for the show might be searching for.
I don’t know how youtube handles duplicate videos but I always changed the filenames after I ripped them. I have no idea if this does anything at all. But once you are reuploading the videos just go through youtubes interface and upload them. It lets you queue uploads and you can really get it done and then it just does its thing. This can definitely be automated and that would be ideal. In your Title Description and Tags put shit that would help it to be found in youtubes search. I always threw in a long description with the title of every episode from a certain season of the clip I was showing. Also Put the bit.ly link in your description, saying for FREE episodes or something like that click your link. Make sure you have http:// in your site link and youtube will turn it into a hyperlink.
2. an idea for a popular tv show that you feel would be searched for on Youtube
1. Make a bunch of accounts and just spam youtube. It has so many damn videos on it your spam probably won’t make a dent.
Make a blogspot address. It is smart to use the tvshow name and a good keyword like “watch” or “streaming” in the URL of your blog. This will help for some Google Love
5. Make your own videos by downloading a season, opening the file in Windows Movie Maker, and mass producing clips by using storyboard and just dragging different sets of clips into a section that already has a title and credits with your link.
