I want to create an affiliate link on myspace that will take readers directly to the Amazon web page for purchasing products. If I am successful, I may see a few pennies from the exchange. However, when I built a widget, I got the following message:

Sponsored Links:

"Note: MySpace does not allow outgoing links from Flash applications. Your viewers cannot visit Amazon by clicking on links within your widget.
Step 1. Click the ‘Copy’ button below to get the code
Step 2. On your MySpace home, click on ‘Edit Profile’
Step 3. Paste the code into one of the text boxes (About Me, Music, Books, Movies etc.) using Ctrl-V or Right-click+Paste
Step 4. Click on ‘Save All Changes’. Your profile page should now display your Amazon Widget!"

If I am understanding this correctly, I can put up a widget, but I can not hope to get any successful customer clicks. So, how would I create an affiliate link for pay via Amazon?

One Response to “Does Amazon Affiliate Links Work in Myspace Blog, Header, Posts, or Profile?”

  1. By using a website builder other than MySpace. Amazon links will not work with MySpace. Even their non flash links will not work because you can’t use iframe and javascript with MySpace

Use other sites. Try blogger or freewebs or geocities free. But not MySpace

But understand though that slapping affiliate links here and there will not work if you don’t have content that people will actually want to read or visit. Otherwise, without content, getting traffic will be very hard and expensive –> and without traffic, you earn nothing from your affiliates making the whole process of creating a website to be a waste of time
