Okay so here’s the deal,
I found a great car, it’s unbelievable how amazing the prices are.
I found it posted on craigslist so I emailed the guy,
Heres the two emails
Hi,

First of all I want to thank you for your interest for my 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. I’m selling at this price ( ,800.00 ) because i just divorced my wife and at the allotment i owned this car.I already have a good personal car and i don’t need this one. This car’s engine runs very, very smooth. No damages, no scratches or dents, no hidden defects, never smoked in. All power and optional equipment work perfectly.
This Jeep has 63,484 miles, Automatic Transmission, leather, cruise control, power everything, power sunroof and much much more options and comes with a clear title. From the beginning you have to know that for the payment I request only secure pay, I prefer the payment to be done using eBay services.
We will use a safe payment method because I am affiliated at eBay and I have a purchase protection account for ,000.00. The final price that I want for this car is ,800.00 including shipping and handling.

I will not negotiate the price. I will take in consideration only those buyers who are really interested in buying the car, to be sure that I don’t waste my time with endless discussions. This way, I shall be assured of the serious intentions. So if you are interested please e-mail me back for more details about the transaction.

I will be waiting for your answer (if you are interested to buy) as soon as possible .

Thank You,
Andrew

Hi again ,

The car is in Loveland, CO and I’ll ship it to you with no problem (my x-wife works for DAS and the shipping costs will be very, very low for me to any address in US). I have a contract with eBay so this deal must go through them. , I can’t meet you in person, so this is the reason why I chose to sell my car over the Internet. According to eBay you have 5 days from the time you receive the car to inspect it and decide if you want to keep it or not.
Here is how it will work:
1. First of all I will need the following details from you:
- Full Name
- Full Shipping Address
2. After I will receive the details from you, I will forward them to eBay.
3. After they will process your info, they will send us both invoices. The invoice will send you the details on how to make a refundable payment.
4. eBay will contact me and I will ship the car to you. After you receive the car you will have 5 days to test, verify and do whatever you want with the car. If you will buy it, then I will receive the payment details from eBay so that I can pick up the money.
5. If you will decide that you will not buy the car, eBay will refund the money and I will have the shipping company come pick up my car.

If you wish to make the transaction, please send me the necessary info (complete name and full shipping address) so that we can proceed. I look forward to hear from you.

Thank you,
Andrew

P.S The shipping costs will be covered by me.

He said he’ll pay all the shipping fees

I’ve seen a bunch of pictures of the car, and it seems like such a great deal.
But what I want to know is, if I buy it will he receive the money before sending it, or after.

Because I don’t want it to be a scam.
I found i on craigslist, and since he doesn’t live in the same state he said he’d prefer to pay over ebay cause normally on craigslist you have to go and see the car to buy it.
Thank you everyone for answering.
I really appreciate it.

I’m not going to buy it, he kept emailing asking me for information and it kinda seemed like he was mad that I wouldn’t give him any

  1. Hey Sydney

First of all i would like to say that you made a smart move to post this issue here.
Second believe me that is 100% scam! eBay is not a middleman in any transactions! Most likely that guy will send a fake invoice asking you to pay using Western Union,Money Gram or bank wire. I am glad that i see people who ask before they do a stupid mistake and cry after for their money.

Wait his invoice i am sure that i am right.Do not pay him!

  2. You will have to pay for the car before you get it but from the sounds of it, ebay will hold the money until you decide you don’t want it, or if you do. If every thing goes according to the emails you have 5 days to make up your mind and check the car out.

  3. Not sure about the scam part because some of it doesn’t sound right at all. I buy and sell on ebay regularly, every week and Ive never had to ask someone for their name and address then forward it to ebay!
    That definitely doesn’t sound right.
You will have to pay for it 1st but why does he say he prefers it to be done using ebay services? I take it the jeep is on ebay so he wouldn’t be allowed to do it any other way or he is breaking their rules? Sounds a bit dodgy sorry but then maybe it’s different for cars but i don’t see why.
I know someone who sold their car on ebay and it was just like any other auction or buy it now. The payment went through paypal.
if you have any doubt you can contact ebay and ask advise.

  4. verify everything his says with someone at ebay
