  1. Assuming that it’s a US company, if you are paid more than $600 for services rendered they should file Form 1099-MISC showing how much you were paid. They may file one if you are paid less but it’s mandatory at $600.

    Whether you receive a 1099 or not the law requires that you keep accurate business records and use those records to prepare and file your tax return.
